To be sure we have all experienced an AH HA moment. Whether it was some clarification finally shedding some light on an unclear idea presented to you. Or a realization on the best way to move forward. Clearly all of us have dreams but how do we turn them into reality. With this in mind I was told by my mentor to DREAM BIGGER!!
As a result my focus is planning and goal setting to achieve my dreams. Clearly to Dream Bigger was a defining moment for me. Because I was never told I needed to state my dreams aloud. To put it out into the universe, that I deserved more abundance. Unlike doing for so many others, I felt like I was being selfish. But I got over it quick when my Mentor said DO IT!!! So in order to obtain my dreams they need to be written down. Accordingly they need to be prioritized in order of importance. So I could create a road map and vision board to success!
Backstory to Dream Bigger
Because I have been working since the age of 8 of course I learned the value of money. Along with the pride of doing a job well. And growing up the oldest of 8 children I had a lot of responsibility. By taking care of my siblings while my parents worked. So to keep my nest egg safe I opened up a savings account. (just a little FYI it was worth putting money in a savings account back then earning 5%) Anyone growing up in a large household knows there is no safe place for a piggy bank! Even if they called it “borrowing” it was never paid back. At this point I was saving for college.. As my goal was to get a degree to secure my future.
While obtaining my degree for Dental Hygiene after 2 semesters I switched my major to accounting. Because to get a recommendation for the clinic you had to work in a dental office. And while doing so uncovered some bookkeeping errors, as the previous receptionist was embezzling. Seems the dentist’s accountant was not doing a very good job as this had been going on for 2 years. And my discovery led the dentist to recoup a little over $12.000.00. Back in 1976 a fortune in my eyes.
For some reason this really resonated with me. I had always worked so hard for my money and the thought that someone would steal it and not be caught for so long really bothered me. So I switched my major and got my degree in accounting. Seems this was the beginning of Dream Bigger!
My Dream Bigger at this point was a Great Job
After graduation I applied for 3 accounting jobs on a Friday. Was hired the very next day, I got the call on a Saturday morning as the boys and I were unloading groceries. And I was asked if I could start that Monday. Now remember this was just creeping into the 80’s and wages were not in the league they are now. I started off making $4 per hour as a bookkeeper for a small floor covering business. But within 14 months I was promoted to Business/Sales manager at $30,000 plus commissions. Because my accounting duties only took me about an hour a day to do. And while the sales people took lunch or appts, I would cover the floor to assist customers. I loved it, I also took it upon myself to study interior design. Along with mastering how to sell and measure for custom draperies/window treatments.
As a result I was decorating for the Parade of Homes! Which was a huge boost for my sales and building exclusive clientele. My in home close rate was 95 to 98% meaning lugging all those samples to a potential customers home resulted in returning with a deposit check!!
Decision to Begin a New Career
For the most part I have enjoyed two successful careers. I loved my job but it was a “job”. I know that may seem ungrateful but I always wanted more control of my destiny. Especially when life interferes with our best laid plans. Because my favorite job vanished when the owner died unexpectedly in a motorcycle accident.
So after 21 years I needed to start anew and made the decision to go into Real Estate. I was experienced in sales and had made many connections working with home builders/realtors/real estate managers/ etc. Soon I came to the realization that it takes years to build Real Estate clientele. And despite the fact that I was working 24/7 I was not making the money I had enjoyed before.
Because my Real Estate was causing friction with my husband, he told me to just give it up. And I have to tell you I was about to anyway. Joe had been retired and wanted to travel. And I had never worked so hard for so little money. Don’t get me wrong I love helping people but I absolutely was feeling neglectful of my husband. We have been together since 1975 so he definitely deserves my consideration in this matter. Thank you Joe, I was killing myself trying to be a huge success.
Permission to Dream Bigger!
So after 2 years of traveling, quilting, crocheting, remodeling, I was bored out of my gourd. Along with having to watch what I spent. Because I was now “retired” Joe seemed to think he now controlled my purse strings. I had always brought in the larger income, so we never had money arguments. And I was not about to start. I have always been fiercely independent. For that reason I began to look online for a way to make money using the internet. Because we do love to travel and spend winters in warm climates I needed to find something I could do from anywhere. TA DAH enter PBS a true work from ANYWHERE Business!
Also I would like to clarify you do not need to be an expert on computers. So many here did not grow up with a computer in the classroom. Our online community of marketers range in age from 18 to 88! And we help them all!! Of course knowing how to type is essential. And us seniors all attended schools that taught typing (before electric typewriters lol)

She is the first female born in 4 generations. Joe and I raised 5 sons and they all had sons. So my grandson FINALLY provided me with a great granddaughter. And I want her to have choices!!
