To be sure I wish I had found out about the power of affirmations years ago!!! Because now I absolutely know why daily affirmations for positive change work and can work for you also!! Even more it can change almost any negative aspect of your life into a positive result. It all starts in our brain, the part of our brain called the “Reticular Activating System”. Because this is the attention center in the brain. It is the key to “turning on your brain” You can deliberately program the reticular activating system by choosing the exact messages you send from your conscious mind.
We have all been told how important it is to set goals, write them down, use Vision Boards etc. But I had never been told to say them to myself or out loud for that matter. By using daily affirmations you are training your brain for a positive change.
Affirmations for positive change is self empowerment
Certainly if you have visited a book store recently and happened by the self empowerment section it is HUGE!!! Because of all the New Age or New Thought books, people are looking to improve their lives.
Because everything we say out loud to ourselves reinforces these thoughts in our brain!! By repeating these thoughts over and over we can affect change, these are affirmations. So what is the Reticular Activating System (RAS)?? So RAS is a portion of our brain that “imprints” words that get repeated over a period of time, to become a part of our identity be it negative or positive. To be sure thinking positively is a good thing!!
As an example; when we plant seeds in a garden, by watering and nurturing them every day they will grow. This is imprinting, repeating the affirmation. For example you have some cherry tomato plant seeds, you plant that seed and water it (focus) You cannot expect to get lettuce? No certainly not, you expect to get cherry tomatoes. That is how our subconscious mind works. It does not care if you want them to grow. Your brain imprints the action or thought of repeatedly watering them. This action is a positive affirmation on how you are nurturing the plant!!
Our subconscious mind
Wow how our subconscious mind works is amazing. Because our subconscious takes in over 40 million bits of information every second!! Our subconscious part of the brain then has to filter all this information fast, after processing we only “perceive” about 5 to 9 bits per second!! These 5 to 9 bits per second is our perception of reality. In addition our subconscious mind stores all of our past experiences. Just like a hard drive storing every bit of information. For example when you gaze at the surface of the sea, you only see the vast expanse, not the depth or volume. You cannot see that, but it is still a part of your reality. Imagine the conscious mind as the surface of the sea and the subconscious mind the depths of the oceans. The conscious mind is the analytical, logical part of us, while your subconscious mind is completely illogical.
Daily affirmations will make a difference!!
So Daily affirmations are simple, positive statements declaring specific goals in their completed states. Although they sound rather basic at that level, these empowering mantras have profound effects on the conscious and unconscious mind.
Can affirmations change your life?
Using affirmations is a practice of recognizing and changing your thoughts on a daily basis. Eventually, positive thoughts can transform your cognitive patterns and negative thoughts may become less prominent. The more you can consciously choose your thoughts, the better your life can be.

Lastly, when having a difficult day or dealing with a stressful situation I find this Prayer a comfort to relieve stress and relax. Just by repeating the words over and over does the trick for me. Whether aloud or to yourself. My wish it that it works for you too!!
